Special Feature: 99 and Under the Radar, A Look at Indie Theatre's Movers and Shakers "Horse Trade and it's producing partner EXIT Theatre will be producing the 2010 FRIGID Festival with a model that is completely different from the other festivals out there...This is a brave new model and Horse Trade should be applauded for rethinking the traditional festival model and giving every artist a chance." Michael Roderick |

"When is a theatre not a theatre? When it is three theatres. This is the case with the Horse Trade Theater Group’s constellation of off-off houses: The Red Room, The Kraine Theater, and Under St. Marks. All three will be home to Horse Trade’s 4th annual Frigid New York Festival" BY TRAV S.D. |
"In the last few years, however, a new reason to step outside has emerged: the FRIGID Festival. Now coming upon its fourth year, the festival provides a forum for many theatrical artists to expand their audience, with no judgment based on thematic concepts or subject matter." by Doug Strassler |
"Horse Trade Theater Group's New York FRIGID Festival likes to do things a little bit differently, like put up productions in spaces you are actually glad are warm. It also accepts 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, and gives the artists 100 percent of the box office—not your average festival behavior." Sharyn Jackson |
"Lots of shows opening this week, thanks to FRIGID New York. Also a number of "one night only" events. Take your pick. There's no reason to spend another night in front of the TV." What to Do: February 22nd - 28th By Byrne Harrison STAGEBUZZ.COM |
"FRIGID New York has gone from being an unknown newcomer in the theater festival community, to become an internationally recognized member. The festival is getting better, stronger and more popular each year. Discover the program of 2010." |

"In anticipation of The Frigid Festival, I spoke with three writer-performers who are contributing solo shows this year." Quick Q&A: Frigid Festival Solos Feb 20th, 2010 by Patrick Lee. Just Shows To Go You |
Brrrrrr! Temperatures Are Dipping! Must Be Time For FRIGID 2010!Okay, okay, so these last few days have been relatively mild ... So, in all fairness, it’s not really “brrrr” worthy out there. Still, don’t let that stop you from getting in the Frigid spirit!by Karen Tortora-Lee on February 24, 2010

" FRIGID New York brings in a diverse and interesting group of plays...While the phrase "something for everyone" gets bandied about a little too much, it is safe to say that the downtown theatre crowd will find plenty to see at this festival." Sunday, February 21, 2010 By Byrne Harrison STAGEBUZZ.COM |
"Forget everything you think you know about theater festivals and step into the freezer: The 2010 Frigid Festival, NYC's "open and uncensored theater festival," kicks off tonight." |
"This 30-show festival celebrates independent American and Canadian artists performing a broad spectrum of comedy, tragedy, and the just plain strange. " "Horse Trade Theater Group presents this orgy of fringe attractions
" |
"This theater festival is an opportunity for a random selection of artists and companies to produce any form, content, or style of performance in an accessible NYC community. " |
"After the mad rush of performance festivals that kicks off the year things get pretty frugal around here. That is until Horse Trade Theater Group and San Francisco-based Exit Theatre’s FRIGID New York, now in its fourth year, brings thirty shows from all over North America to three East Village venues" |

by Lucy Di Rosa
2009 is already turning into a sorry year for Broadway. But don’t let it get you down! Go catch one or two or five of these great shows at any or all of these cozy theatres Posted in Theater by karen |
Can’t wait until the summer brings its usual raft of theater festivals? Then wait no longer, friends, because tonight marks the start of the East Village’s third annual FRIGID New York, a highly eclectic and very affordable hotchpotch of shows by emerging companies.
Upstaged by Adam Feldman "This episode we talk with Natalie Toro (Tale of Two Cities, Les Miz) about her new solo CD and her upcoming gig at the Metropolitan Room. We also talk with the producers of the FRIGID New York Festival. And of course we have a couple great performances from our most recent showcase!"
